Information for Applicants
The Rural Business Development Corporation (RBDC) is a body established under Section 5 of the Rural Business Development Corporation Act 2000 (RBDC Act) to administer approved assistance schemes to foster the development of rural businesses.
Expression of Interest for a Board Director
The RBDC is seeking a board director with a sound understanding of the issues facing regional communities, with the relevant skills, knowledge and understanding of the RBDC. Applicants from across Western Australia, particularly those in regional Western Australia and with a broad range of experience are encouraged to apply.
In accordance with section 12 of the RBDC Act, the Corporation’s board of directors comprises five members appointed by the Minister for individual terms not exceeding three years and will have:
- qualifications and experience in financial management relevant to the Corporation’s functions or
- other qualifications and experience relevant to those functions.
In accordance with section 14 of the RBDC Act, remuneration for eligible members will be determined by the Minister on the recommendation of the Public Sector Commissioner.

You are also asked to address the following selection criteria (2 pages maximum):
- Professional qualifications, expertise and experience that will contribute to the work of the Rural Business Development Corporation.
- Your demonstrated interest in the position.
- Knowledge and understanding of probity requirements including conflicts of interest and confidentiality.

Hardship Support Grant scheme
Farm businesses facing financial hardship due to drought conditions can apply for $5,000 per business to help cover the cost of stockfeed, water and transportation.
Applications for the $5000 hardship grant are open. Applications close on 30 June 2024 or when funding is fully committed (whichever occurs first). Visit the Hardship Support Grant page for more information and how to apply.
Farm Debt Mediation Scheme (WA)

WA Carbon Farming and Land Restoration Program
The State Government's $15 million Carbon Farming and Land Restoration Program (CF-LRP) aims to realise agriculture's potential to sequester carbon in the landscape and contribute to growing the WA carbon market.

Farm Finance (FFCLS) and Drought (DCLS) Concessional Loans Schemes
These schemes were funded by the Australian Government and are being administered by the Rural Business Development Corporation (RBDC) on behalf of the Western Australian Government, for the Australian Government.

Future Drought Fund - June 2020
The Australian Government established the Future Drought Fund, with the Fund opening with 8 foundational programs on 1 July 2020.
The Future Drought Fund is an important part of the Australian Government’s Drought Response, Resilience and Preparedness Plan to deliver the support Australian farmers and communities need to be sustainable and productive.
