  3. 1.5-2.8L for 800g/L (APVMA permit required)

Time of application

  • Summer: as early as possible before flowering.
  • A minor use permit from APVMA is required to use the 800g/L product between 1 September and 30 April.

Remarks

  • Ester/distillate enhances drying of plants prior to burning.
  • Mow, slash, grub and burn plants to prevent burr formation.
  • Dicamba and dicamba-phenoxy mixes: e.g. Tordon™ 75-D are also effective on Bathurst burr: also Fluroxypyr @ 75mL/100L water for plants up to 40cm high.

Herbicide: 2,4-D amine (Group I) (various trade names: see APVMA link)

Active ingredient

  1. 500g/L 2,4-D amine
  2. 625g/L 2,4-D amine
  3. 720g/L 2,4-D amine

  2. 1:250 for 625g/L

Rate of product/10L

  1. 50mL for 500g/L
  2. 40mL for 625g/L
  3. 35mL for 720g/L
  4. 31g for 800g/kg

Rate of product/ha

  1. 1-4L for 500g/kg

  4. 0.625-0.88kg for 800g/kg

Time of application

Summer as early as possible before flowering

Remarks

Frequent inspections required after summer rain as new germinations occur.

  • Dicamba (200g/L @ 0.75–1.4L/ha) or 500g/L @ 0.32–0.56L/ha also gives good control
  • Kamba M 380g/L MCPA + 80g/L dicamba @ 2.8L–4L/ha
  • 2,4-D amine (625g/L) @ 32mL/10L or 0.8-1.1L/ha

Herbicide: Glyphosate (Group M) (various trade names: see APVMA link)

Active ingredient

  1. 360g/L glyphosate
  2. 450g/L glyphosate
  3. 490/500g/L glyphosate

Other concentrations of glyphosate available: adjust rates accordingly

Time of application

When actively growing

Remarks and other control methods

  • Glyphosate through a splatter gun at 1:20 mixture.
  • Mow, slash, grub and burn plants to prevent burr formation.
  • Dicamba and dicamba-phenoxy mixes: e.g. Tordon™ 75-D are also effective on Bathurst burr.

A mixture with 2,4-D ester @ 10mL/10L increases effectiveness

Herbicide: Picloram + triclopyr (Group I) (various trade names: see APVMA link)

50mL

Rate of product/ha

Not recommended

Remarks and other control methods

  • For spot treatment only: will also control further germination for growing season.
