Extrata® is a new data exchange platform designed to assist WA primary producers to gain actionable insights to boost their operational performance.

Developed by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Extrata assists farmers to make informed decisions related to their farming activities such as spraying, seeding, harvesting and grazing of livestock.

Extrata provides a secure platform to exchange sensitive agricultural, financial and research data.

Data exchanged through Extrata can be employed across a range of on farm applications such as:

Weather forecasting

Hyper-local weather data can inform critical operations in real-time. It also creates benchmarks for enhanced planning decisions for crops/livestock.

Irrigation system management

Real-time, micro data can optimise watering. Intelligent, automated irrigation systems can drive further operating efficiencies.

Crop yield production and selection

Analysis of historic trends can improve yield predications and also future crop selection.

Crop disease prediction

Analysing targeted data sets that predict crop disease can enable remedial measures to be taken proactively, not reactively.

Agricultural research

Research institutions can use Extrata to access a broad range of information that can be used to advance agriculture centric research, education and collaboration.
