My role in the department

Alex is currently the Principal Policy Officer for the Grains Directorate and leads a team with two roles within it. Her team provides high level policy analysis, advice, and implementation, strategic planning, communications and reporting for the Directorate. This is coupled with the role of facilitating industry development by working with DPIRD’s commodity leads and industry stakeholders, including the Processed Oat Industry Growth Partnership.

My background

Alex comes from a farm in Wagin and has a degree in Agricultural Science and 30 years’ experience in DPIRD and the Agriculture industry.  This includes 10 years in regional WA undertaking animal and plant research, economic modelling, and analysis. As a result, she has a thorough knowledge and understanding of WA farming systems, grain production profit drivers and an understanding of grains industry supply chains. She is passionate about agriculture and seeks to aid industry address challenges and capture opportunities for sustainability, profitability and growth across the whole supply chain.
