The Western Australian agriculture and food: a global opportunity booklet is a high-level overview of the opportunities facing businesses, industry, potential investors and government in growing the agriculture and food (agrifood) sector.

The Western Australian agrifood sector has a long-awaited opportunity to grow by feeding the rapidly expanding urbanised middle class around the world, particularly in Asia, who are demanding high-quality, traceable produce, especially protein.

Sector and government specialists agree the agrifood sector has the potential to grow and contribute more to the state’s economy.

This booklet, produced by the former Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia in 2016, provides a summary of research about the sector's growth opportunities and a high‑level overview of the opportunities facing businesses, industry, potential investors and government.

The report is intended to:

  • engage industry participants in discussion of the sector’s potential
  • provoke thought in industry players and potential investors
  • inform industry level discussion and action.

The document is available for download in PDF and accessible Word formats.
