My role in the department
Dr Peltzer leads the Crop Protection portfolio that focusses on the management of pests, diseases and weeds in Western Australian cropping systems. This includes 21 projects, many of which are co-funded by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC).
The interdisciplinary team of research, technical and extension staff within this portfolio are based across the grain-growing region of WA. The team works with industry to produce practical pest management programs and manage herbicide and pesticide resistance. This includes applied research into a range of cultural, chemical and/or genetic options that growers can use to protect their crop and continue to produce sustainable and profitable crops.
My background
Sally has more than 30 years in agricultural research and development which includes 20 years within weed management. Her specialist skills include research into weed seedbank dynamics, crop agronomy and competition, integrated weed management and herbicide resistance. Dr Peltzer has a passion for agricultural extension and communication and is always looking for new, exciting and effective ways to help growers make decisions to manage their farms.
