My role in the department

Shoaib's research focuses on the development of innovative technologies and business models including value-chain management for enhancing on-farm productivity and profitability in mixed farming systems. Currently he is working on a research project aimed to identify potential blowfly species and the mass rearing of these species that can be used as efficient crop pollinators for enhancing crop yields, such as avocado and blueberries, in the Australian horticulture industry. His research approach is integrative, drawing on more than 15 years of interdisciplinary and cross-institutional education and work experience.

My background

Shoaib previously worked at the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research in various research and development, extension and policy-related capacities. Shoaib’s portfolio includes varietal selection and evaluation, crop/pasture agronomy, weeds, insect/pests and disease management, optimising feeding strategies and antimicrobial resistance and disease management in livestock and agriculture economics.

In addition to project management and mentoring young professionals, Shoaib also worked as an Assistant Professor and was involved in teaching, research and curriculum development.
