The Government of Western Australia supports sustainable development in agribusiness and food with grants, infrastructure, sponsorships, events, partnerships and investment opportunities to ensure our industry remains internationally competitive.

The Investment team promotes and facilitates investment into Western Australia’s agriculture, agri tech, fisheries and food industries by supporting businesses and investors, engaging with industry and collaborating across government for the benefit of the state.

We connect investors with Western Australia's agriculture, fisheries and food industries to support the development and delivery of commercially sustainable investment projects.

We do this by delivering:

  • Agribusiness investment and development - a combined service and consistent approach for investment and development.
  • Investment incentives - financial support for businesses seeking to invest in value-adding, processing, production or expansion.
  • Investment services - support for businesses seeking to invest or raise capital, and promotion of Western Australia as an attractive destination.
  • Strategic partnerships - engaging and supporting partner services and projects that deliver investment objectives in Western Australia.
  • Strategic projects - identification of priority opportunities that deliver jobs, economic growth and provision of analysis and information to support expansion and investment.

Our partners

Regional Development Commissions 

Western Australia's nine Regional Development Commissions aim to:

  • develop and broaden the economic base of the region
  • identify infrastructure services needed to promote economic and social development within the region
  • provide information and advice to promote business development within the region
  • maximise job creation and improve career opportunities in the region
  • seek to ensure that the general standard of government services and access to those services in the region is comparable to that which applies in the metropolitan area
  • generally take steps to encourage, promote, facilitate and monitor the economic development in the region.

We work with each of the commissions to identify local businesses seeking investment, and connect suitable investors and businesses to relevant regions to ensure targeted and effective investment facilitation in regional areas.

As Western Australia's lead agency for economic development, international trade, investment, defense and tourism there are significant opportunities for industry investment in large and complex infrastructure development and state projects.

Small Business Development Corporation

The Government of Western Australia welcomes international businesses for their contribution to the state’s economy, employment and cultural diversity.
If you have an interest in owning or managing a Western Australian business or investment and would like to engage in business or investment in Western Australia, you may qualify for the Business Migration Program. This program supports investment into the state’s agriculture, fisheries, food and beverage industries.
