Insecticides
Insecticides are chemicals that destroy or inhibit specific developmental stages of insects. They play a vital role in an Integrated Pest Management plan. Numerous pesticides are registered with the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority for use in Western Australia.
An insecticide cannot legally be used for any purpose other than the purpose shown on the approved label. Application and timing is important to maximise effectiveness of insecticides, reduce cost, and reduce impacts on non-target organisms. Precautions should be taken particularly when transporting, mixing and applying insecticides.
The Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia provides information on using insecticides, insecticide resistance and insecticides that can be used on insect pests in Western Australia.
If you need advice on insecticides please search our website or the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority website. Our Pest and Disease Information Service (PaDIS) can also put you in contact with an insecticide expert.
